GO TO THE BEACH

This may seem predictable, but visiting the different beaches when you’re in Barcelona during the Summer is definitely a must. This city contains almost 5 kilometers of sandy beaches fully equipped for you to spend a full day by the sea with friends and family! Here are some of the beaches we suggest you go to:

 

  • BARCELONETA: one of the most popular beaches located in the fisherman's neighborhood. It’s one of the best places to eat great seafood!
  • SANT SEBASTIÀ: If you wish to escape the crowds, Sant Sebastià Beach is one of your best options. This beach is also great for people with reduced mobility as it’s equipped with wooden walkways.
  • MAR BELLA BEACH: This beach is what we suggest if you’re a fan of beach sports. With its youthful atmosphere, you’ll be able to play volleyball, basketball and even tennis!

 

GO TO AN OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOL

If you’re not a fan of the beach but still wish to escape the high temperatures of the city during the Summer, we have a solution for you! The city of Barcelona is fortunately equipped with many outdoor swimming pools, some of which with a great view of the beach!

Summer in Barcelona can get pretty hot so it’s always good to plan ahead and understand what you can do to escape the heat during the day. The Ice Bar in Barcelona is one of your best chances to freshen up. Located on the Passeig Maritim, the Ice Bar is filled with many different ice sculptures that will blow your mind and that you can see whilst drinking delicious cocktails! The temperature there gets pretty cold, between -2 and -10 degrees. Because of this, the bar actually provides coats and gloves!

 

GO TO A MUSIC FESTIVAL 

During the Summer season, the city of Barcelona fills up with great musical festivals that truly make the city come alive. If you’re a fan of live music, we highly suggest you go see a concert in the city during your stay. Here’s a list of festivals you could buy tickets for, just remember to book them in advance since there’s always a high request for them and the spots are obviously limited:

 

  • PRIMAVERA SOUND: one of the most popular music festivals in Barcelona, starting June 8th and ending June 10th in 2023;
  • SÓNAR FESTIVAL: an electronic and alternative music festival from June 15th to June 17th, 2023;
  • CRUÏLLA FESTIVAL: a festival set on the beach, starting July 5th and ending on the 8th of the same month in 2023;

 

GO TO THE OPEN AIR CINEMA FESTIVAL

During the Summer season, many cinemas in Barcelona open their doors and become one of the best attractions in the city with their open-air cinema where classic films are screened, creating a very relaxing atmosphere.
