You will walk along the Vatican galleries and be astonished by the incredible collections preserved in each of them, you will feel in safe hands because your guide is a licensed Vatican guide who tours inside the Vatican every day and knows the collections inside out. You can spend days and days inside the Vatican Museums but of course we will focus our tour on the most important pieces displayed in this extremely famous museum. You will learn the incredible stories hidden behind the art works. This tour departs at 8:30 am and is generally organized in shared groups of maximum 10 people. You will learn art and history but also discover some incredible anecdotes and stories about the artists who worked for the Popes during the Renaissance and Baroque period.

During the tour you are allowed to take pictures without flash and you can easily hear the guide because we will provide headsets at the beginning of the tour. Among the highlights of this tour is also the visit to the apartment of Pope Julius II, in which you will have the chance to admire the rooms painted by the young Raphael such as the School of Athens. Then there will also be time to step into Pope Borgia’s apartment painted by Pinturicchio and his assistants. Besides seeing the beautifully painted rooms, you will also learn some fascinating stories about the Borgia family and the future Pope Alexander VI, who had a daughter before he was elected Pope, the beautiful Lucrezia Borgia.

Afterwards, you will step inside the mind-blowing Sistine Chapel, where you will be surrounded by Michelangelo’s frescoes. The Sistine Chapel is still nowadays used for the election of the Pope, the Conclave. The indoor part of the Sistine Chapel is connected to chimeny outside and when the Pope is elected all the people waiting in St. Peter’s Square will see white smoke billowing out of it. If there is no election the smoke is black until the new Pope is elected.

From this area of the Vatican you will move on to St. Peter Basilica with your guided tour. You will acess St Peter's Basilica through a special, reserved passageway, offering you skip the line access directly inyo the Basilica. You will be left breathless when you will see the beautiful “Pieta” by Michelangelo and the incredible Canopy also called “Baldachin”. In the center you will also see the marvelous Cathedra Petri”, which is the Chair of St. Peter. Bernini represents spirituality through his art and archictecture, which becomes the new language used to arouse people's interest.
