Among the highlights of this tour there is also the visit to the apartment of Pope Julius II, in which you will have the chance to admire the rooms painted by the young Raphael such as the School of Athens. Then there will also be time to step into Pope Borgia’s apartment painted by Pinturicchio and his assistants. Afterward, you will step inside the Sistine Chapel, where you will be surrounded by Michelangelo’s frescoes. The Sistine Chapel is still nowadays in use for the election of the Pope, the Conclave, and the indoor part is connected with an outdoor section from where a pipe of a stove exits and when the Pope is elected all the people waiting in St. Peter’s square see white smoke. If there is no election the smoke is black until the new Pope will be elected.

From this area of the Vatican you will move on to St. Peter Basilica with your guided tour and access into the Basilica from a special door that is used only for visitors on tour who can quickly enter without standing in line. You will be breathless when you will see the beautiful “Pieta” by Michelangelo and the incredible Canopy also called “Baldachin”.
