Besides seeing the beautifully painted rooms, you will also learn some fascinating stories about the Borgia family and the future Pope Alexander VI, who had a daughter before he was elected Pope, the beautiful Lucrezia Borgia.
Afterwards, you will step inside the mind-blowing Sistine Chapel, where you will be surrounded by Michelangelo’s frescoes. The Sistine Chapel is still nowadays used for the election of the Pope, the Conclave. The indoor part of the Sistine Chapel is connected to chimeny outside and when the Pope is elected all the people waiting in St. Peter’s Square will see white smoke billowing out of it. If there is no election the smoke is black until the new Pope is elected.
From this area of the Vatican you will move on to St. Peter Basilica with your guided tour. You will acess St Peter's Basilica through a special, reserved passageway, offering you skip the line access directly inyo the Basilica. You will be left breathless when you will see the beautiful “Pieta” by Michelangelo and the incredible Canopy also called “Baldachin”. In the center you will also see the marvelous “Cathedra Petri”, which is the Chair of St. Peter. Bernini represents spirituality through his art and archictecture, which becomes the new language used to arouse people's interest.
