Take in the beauty of one of Michelangelo's best works: Pietà sculpture. This impressive marble sculpture depicts the body of Jesus after the crucifixion. He is represented on the lap of this Mother Mary.
Continue with St. Peter's Baldachin, a massive Baroque sculpture made with bronze by Bernini. The Baldachin is located in front of the altar, at center the crossing and below the large Dome. It was meant to remember the place where St. Peter was buried, in fact this monumental art piece is placed over his tomb.
