Enjoy a small group tour of two of Rome's best loved sites, the Colosseum and the Vatican, away from the crowds of the day.
Even if you are just in Rome for a limited time there are two sites you are sure to want to visit with an expert licensed guide, the Vatican and Colosseum. You definitely do not want to stand in line to enter two of the most famous attractions in the world and you certainly want to beat the huge crowds that swarm both the Colosseum and Vatican at peak times. Yet achieving this doesn’ have to break the bank, as you will find with our Vatican and Colosseum Under the Moon Small Group Tour.
You will meet your guide and the group at either 7:30am or 8:30am at the Vatican. The Vatican officially opens its doors to the public at 9am so, whichever option you choose, you will be getting in there early before the hoards of tourists arrive. With privileged entrance, your group will enter the Vatican Museums avoiding the long ticket line. Your guide is an expert in art history and will navigate you neatly through the Vatican Museums vast collections. Highlights of your tour of the Vatican will include the Gallery of the Candelebras, Gallery of the Maps and Raphael’s rooms. Your fully licensed guide will lead your group on into Michelangelo’s masterpiece- the breathtaking Sistine Chapel. Finally you will enter St Peter’s Basilica, the center of the Catholic world.
Starting your Vatican tour bright and early will leave you with plenty of free time to do as you please. You can rest up at your hotel or choose to explore other highlights of Rome’s center on your own, such as the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Spanish Steps.
In the evening you will make your way to our office, located near the Colosseum, for the second part of your Vatican and Colosseum Under the Moon small group tour. You will be greeted with a welcome reception with drinks and snacks. What tour in Rome would be complete without prosecco and pizza?! Your guide will then accompany your group on a walking tour of Ancient Rome. You will start from the Victor Emanuel monument in Venice Square and see the outsides of the Roman and Imperial forum as you make your way up to the Colosseum. At the Colosseum you will be handed over to a guide of the Colosseum who will continue your exploration of Ancient Roman times. You will enjoy a virtually empty Colosseum under the moonlight as you visit not only the regular levels but also the dungeons and arena stage, usually closed off to the general public!
Don’t miss this excellent way to visit both the Vatican and Colosseum in just one day.
