Tour Description

The Colosseum with Arena Floor guided tour offers a fast track entrance and allows special access to the Colosseum. The Arena floor is a VIP entrance different from the one that it is normally used by the general public with regular tickets. With our enthusiastic guide and small group up to 25 participants, you will step put directly onto the arena floor. You will acess the arena through the Gladiator's gate, also known as the “Libitinaria Gate” because in the Ancient Roman times the slaves, wearing a mask of the ferryman “Charon”, carried out the dead bodies of the Gladiators.

The moment you chose to visit Rome, you probably started dreaming about how life must have been in the Ancient Eternal City. If you are curious to experience it first-hand, then this tour is exactly what you need. Actually, this package will provide you with a 2-in-1 experience as it also includes a visit to the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel along with St. Peter's Basilica.

Have your camera ready and enjoy the view of the impressive Colosseum stepping right in the middle of the Arena floor from where you can also enjoying a wonderful view of the dungeons located just beneath the arena. Our enthusiastic guide will use books and other visual aids; you will learn stories and anecdotes and discover about the Roman games, that took place in the Colosseum. The Games were sponsored for the public by the Roman Emperors.

You will have some free time to explore the Colosseum, after our guided tour, on your own. Then in the early afternoon with our friendly art-historian guide you will discover another special State called the “Vatican City State”. Enjoy this opportunity for a complete experience of Rome and the Vatican city and take advantage of visiting the Vatican Museums with fewer people than you might find in the morning time.

Before starting, you will receive headsets to listen to your guide. In this way you will be free to take pictures of the Vatican treasures whilst listening to your art expert. The itinerary will include the Octagonal Courtyard; the Apollo of Belvedere, the Laocoon as well as many replicas of ancient Roman and Greek sculptures; the fantastic galleries of the Vatican Museums, such as the Gallery of Maps, of Candelabra and of Tapestries.

Our passionate Vatican licensed guide will illustrate some of the most famous artworks from the Greek and Roman period. The highlight of the visit to the Vatican will be the Sistine Chapel, in which no talking is allowed due to the holiness of the place. Do not worry because before you enter the Sistine Chapel our guide will provide a great explanation on the paintings of the Sistine Chapel and of course on the spectacular frescoes by Michelangelo, visual aids will be used to illustrate the Sistine Chapel.

Once inside you will immediately recognize Michelangelo’s talent, and you will also recognize some of the characters painted by Michelangelo in the Last Judgement. Michelangeo was inspired by the ancient Roman and Greek statues that were already part of the private collection of Pope Julius II. From the Sistine Chapel you will access St Peter's Basilica. Thanks to the small door that connects the Sistine Chapel with St Peter's Basilica, you will easily access the church skipping any line. The Basilica is a marvelous example of Baroque architecture.

Our passionate guide will draw your group's attention to the Baldachin over the high altar. Inside you will also see the spectacualr marble statue called the “Pietà” and sculpted by the young Michelangelo when he was only 19 years old. The Pietà represents Jesus laying on his mother after the Crucifixion. Take advantage of this amazing offer that combines two of the main attractions in Rome: save both money and time!
