Your first stop will be the world-famous town of Pisa. The town owes its reputation to its most famous landmark: the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Its construction began in the 12th century. However, just 5 years after works have begun, the tower began to sink into the soft soil. Though many attempts were made to straighten it, the tower now leans at about 3.98 degrees. During your day trip to Pisa you will have free time to enjoy the town. You can decide to climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa or you can take a walk and explore the historic center of the town.
Your day trip will continue to the beautiful town of Lucca. The distinctive element of Lucca is its impressive city walls that enclose the city center. Dating back to the Renaissance, the city walls are still perfectly intact today. In Lucca you will have time to relax. You can take a walk along the city walls, as the local people do, and enjoy the panoramic view. You’ll be sure to take some fabulous pictures so that you can treasure your memories of Lucca forever. Whilst you’re there don’t forget to explore Lucca’s Medieval streets and its famous monuments, like the Guinigi Tower and the Dome of St. Martino.
On request on your way back to Florence you can stop at a local winery to enjoy a wine tasting accompanied by local specialties.
