Next during your Christian Rome tour you will proceed along the Appian Way and stop at the little church of the Domine quo Vadis. The Domine Quo Vadis is famous for being the site where St Peter had his miraculous vision of Jesus on his way to the Crucifixion. Whilst you are on the Appian way you will also visit the catacombs. As the catacombs are a religious site, your guide will not be able to explain in they catacombs themselves. Your private guide will explain to you the significance of the catacombs on your way and then you will join a group tour with an official catacombs guide.
On your way back to the city center, this Christian Rome Tour will give you the chance to explore the Basilica of St. Mary Major, which is a jewel of art with beautiful mosaics dating back to the 5th century. St Mary Major is also another of the Papal basilicas of Rome.
