Tour Description

Discover the beautiful medieval town of Siena in Tuscany. With our child-oriented private guide, fun and learning for the whole family is guaranteed with our Siena Tour for Kids!

With our family tour of Siena for Kids you will spend 3 fun hours walking with a friendly guide through the city’s alleys, stopping to admire its squares and hidden corners and discovering the intriguing history of this fantastic city.

Siena is world-famous for the Palio horse race but it has so much else to offer to visitors. If you book this tour with RPG you will meet a kid-friendly private guide in front of Siena’s Cathedral and you will start your fun tour of the city. The first attraction on your itinerary will be one of the boroughs of the Palio, the so-called “Contrade”. Our kid-friendly guides are the best in engaging with kids of all ages. They know how to make history and anecdotes interesting for them and how to convey this information in a way kids will understand. At the end of the tour all the family will be experts of Siena and its horse race! You will visit the church where the horses and the jockeys are baptized before the race, as well as the local museum where the famous Mars Galan plates are preserved. You will learn the traditions and secrets Siena and you will finally understand why this sport event is so important for the community.

Your tour will proceed to the Cathedral of Siena, the so-called “Duomo”, a medieval Church built in the 13th century. The façade of the Cathedral of Siena is one of the most impressive in all of Italy, and the inside is made of a mix of black and white marble . It is considered that these colors symbolize the black and white horses of the legendary founders of the city - Senius and Aschius. Black and white are even the colors of Siena's soccer team! Once outside the Cathedral, your guide will lead you along Siena’s little alleys. You will be able to stop for nice pictures, enter the little artisan shops and even taste the local cookies! At the end of the stroll you will reach the famous Campo Square, where the Horse Palio race takes place in July and August. In the shape of a shell and in a slight spiral decline towards the center, this is one of Europe’s greatest medieval squares. Relax and take one last family picture, before saying goodbye to your friendly guide!
